BJP functionary from Aldona involved in Moira assault: Cong

Panaji: Congress on Thursday said that at least one of the culprits involved in the Moira road rage assault is closely linked to BJP state leadership and currently serves on the Aldona BJP mandal core committee.

The party has also levelled serious allegations against the investigating officer, PSI Bablo Parab, stating that he was tipping off the accused who are absconding.“A BJP karyakarta, a core committee member of the Aldona BJP mandal, is the accused and is absconding,” said Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira. “BJP jumps up when there is a law and order issue in other states, but today, why are they silent...maybe because their man is involved or because they are changing the story.”Ferreira produced photographs to show that one of the absconding accused was sitting in the second row at the BJP’s ‘karyakarta melava’.“The investigating officer must be replaced as he is leaking information and slowing down the investigation. We demand that the call record of Parab be sought. This will show whether he alerted any of the accused or if any ‘godfather’ called him up,” said Ferreira.State Congress president Amit Patkar said that BJP had become a “den of criminals” and thus crimes against women are on the rise. “Murders have increased, rapes have increased, women are assaulted. BJP workers with prominent posts are themselves attacking women. So our question to the BJP president is what action will you take? Why is the CM not taking action,” said Patkar.
