Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar writing to the Chief Secretary expressing displeasure over transfers in his department without his permission has created a political flutter, with the Opposition BJP describing this as a clear indication of “shadowboxing” between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister “getting set to explode”.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok shared a photo of the strongly-worded letter by Mr. Shivakumar on social media, and said, “There are full indications of the shadowboxing between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister getting exploded as the time for transferring power is approaching.”

He further said, “The letter written by the Deputy Chief Minister to the Chief Secretary taking exception to effecting transfers in his department by the Chief Minister without his consent, has brought to the fore the internal tussle in the Congress government in Karnataka.”

Meanwhile, BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra said the State politics was set to witness a major turn in the next few days. “The transfer issue is only an alibi. All these developments are only a precursor to the climax.”
