The Lokayukta Special Court convicted K.B. Ramakrishna Reddy, Divisional Traffic Controller at the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Yeshwantpur, in a disproportionate assets case, recently.

He was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and was slapped with a fine of ₹70 lakh.

A team, comprising the Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police C.W. Poovaiah Reddy and inspector K.S. Muniyappa, conducted a raid on Reddy in March 2014 and filed a charge sheet against him.

Investigations revealed that Reddy possessed movable and immovable assets totalling ₹61.4 lakh, which was 29.8% higher than his known sources of income.

The trial was held at the 23rd Additional City Civil and Sessions Court, which found Reddy guilty. The court also ruled that if he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
