Bokaro: Cybercriminals have cheated a 26-year-old engineer living in Sector 9 of Rs 9.40 lakh by luring her into an online trading scam. The victim informed the police on Friday that the fraud took place between Nov 6 and Nov18.
According to the complaint, the woman, Ankita, a resident of the Harla police station area, was added to a social media group through which she received basic training in online trading and was persuaded to open a trading account. The fraudsters asked her to transfer money to accounts provided by them, claiming it was required for trading investments. Over a period of time, the accused managed to siphon off a total of Rs 9.40 lakh from the victim. When she realised she was cheated, she approached the police and lodged a complaint. Headquarters DSP Animesh Kumar Gupta said a case of cyber fraud was registered at the cyber police station.
