Tension around LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers has become a major talking point in the NBA. After ESPN reporter Baxter Holmes suggested that Lakers governor cum minority owner Jeanie Buss was unhappy with how much influence LeBron had inside the team, it created issues within the organization and raised questions about power, respect, and leadership.Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, a longtime friend of LeBron James, spoke up about the situation. He questioned why LeBron was being criticized for his role and influence. Green made it clear that LeBron has always shown appreciation toward the Lakers and that expecting him to step back after everything he achieved feels unfair.

Recently, appearing on the Draymond Green Show on Thursday, Green showed his support for the Lakers' star center.

Both James and Green are represented by the Klutch Sports Group, led by Rich Paul, whose influence over the organization raised concerns and questions in the aftermath of Anthony Davis’ trade in June 2019. "A lot of the top agents, especially agents of the top players, usually have some say over what goes on," Green said. "That's the nature of this business”, Green said while speaking about Paul.

Tensions between James and Buss reportedly grew following the failed Westbrook trade in 2021, with talk of Buss thinking of a possible trade involving LeBron to the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Do you bow down, and, like, kiss the ring, and say thank you? I’ve seen LeBron speak out about how he’s appreciative of the (Lakers) organization for giving Bronny a chance. Bronny did do some work. Bronny worked to become who he’s become as well.”While Jeanie Buss has denied the claims directed towards LeBron James, speaking positively about James and praising him, however, LeBron James has not commented on the situation so far.
