The Election Commission Sunday announced bypolls to five Assembly constituencies — two in Gujarat and one each in Kerala, Punjab and West Bengal — on June 19.
The Kadi and Visavadar seats in Gujarat had fallen vacant due to the death and resignation of the respective MLAs Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki and Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai. Nilambur in Kerala fell vacant due to the resignation of MLA P.V. Anvar; Ludhiana in Punjab became vacant upon the death of MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi; and Kaliganj in West Bengal fell vacant on the death of MLA Nasiruddin Ahamed.
Counting of votes in all of these seats will be held on June 23.
