The Cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod for transferring 2.7 acres of land in coastal Poovar here to the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility.
The land, meant for research purposes, is being transferred to the DRDO, the parent organisation of NPOL, in exchange of ₹2.50 crore, the fair price of the land, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s Office said.
“The land has been allotted on the request made by the NPOL Director on May 15, 2024, stating that NPOL and the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatanam, would like to have own land in southern Kerala for research purposes,” sources said.
Financial assistance can be provided to 1031 individuals who were included in an initial list but excluded from the final one intended to identify Endosulfan-affected in Kasaragod district, the Cabinet has decided. They had been included in the initial list prepared on the basis of a first-stage medical examination and field-level verification in 2017.
The Cabinet has decided to sanction flats for 50 landless and homeless families in Alappuzha district under the scheme for eradication of extreme poverty. They will be allotted flats constructed under the Punargeham scheme in Purakkad.
The Cabinet also decided that an infrastructure development proposal pegged at ₹26.58 crore for the K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts can be considered for funding through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
