Cachar district administration has stepped up efforts to fast-track the multi-crore Bharat Mala road projects across the Barak Valley, with a special focus on resolving land acquisition hurdles. In a review meeting chaired by district commissioner Mridul Yadav at the old conference hall of the DC’s office, officials from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), line departments, and key stakeholders discussed measures to clear bottlenecks hampering the ambitious infrastructure works.Detailed deliberations were held on the Silchar–Badarpur–Churaibari (Package-1) stretch, which included land clearance at Srikona, addressing defence estate issues at Tarapur, and relocating several govt and private establishments to pave the way for timely execution.Equally significant attention was given to the Panchgram and Badarpur bypass projects (Package-2 and 3), where the preparation of an additional 3G report was reviewed to accelerate the acquisition process. Specific hurdles in Karaikandi linked to the Badarpur Bypass under Package-3 also came up for discussion.Matters relating to Rongpur High School and Rongpur police outpost under the Silchar–Vairengte (Package-1) stretch were taken up, along with compensation disbursement and fund availability.

The administration also reviewed the status of approvals for the 3A notification and preparation of 3D and 3G reports for Silchar–Vairengte (Package-2).Reiterating the district’s commitment, Yadav on Thursday said the administration would extend all support to ensure smooth and timely completion of the nationally significant projects. “By clearing ground-level hurdles and enhancing coordination between departments, we are determined to speed up work that will transform connectivity and strengthen the socio-economic fabric of the Barak Valley,” he said.
