Cadillac, the new Formula One team, has dismissed rumours about former Red Bull boss Christian Horner joining their ranks. The General Motors-backed team, set to debut next season as the 11th team on the grid, appointed Briton Graeme Lowdon as their team principal last December.

Christian Horner, who was Red Bull’s longest-serving and one of the most successful F1 bosses, left the team last month, sparking speculation about his future.

Horner was abruptly fired following the British Grand Prix last month, with no reason provided for his termination. This dismissal concluded a 20-year tenure that included eight F1 drivers’ titles and recent turmoil that affected the team both on and off the track.

Is Christian Horner Joining Cadillac?

Cadillac F1 chief executive Dan Towriss, who also heads TWG Motorsports, clarified the situation to reporters.

“There have been no talks with Christian Horner, no plans to do that," Cadillac F1 chief executive Dan Towriss, who also runs TWG Motorsports, told reporters.

“So I’d like to officially shut down that rumour," he added.

Dan Towriss also praised Graeme Lowdon, Cadillac’s current team principal.

“Our support backing is 100% in Graeme Lowdon," Towriss said.

On Tuesday, Cadillac announced their first-ever F1 driver lineup, featuring race-winning veterans Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. Mexican driver Perez raced under Horner at Red Bull before being dropped by the team at the end of 2024, despite having two years left on his contract, following poor results as teammate to four-time champion Max Verstappen.

Horner transformed Red Bull from an underperforming team to champions in just five years. While Lowdon is untested as a principal, he was previously the chief executive of the now-defunct Marussia team operated by Manor Motorsport.

Cadillac has recruited extensively from other F1 teams, including Red Bull, and is already larger than U.S. rival Haas. The team operates from Indianapolis, North Carolina, and Silverstone. TWG, the motorsports entity of billionaire Mark Walter’s TWG Global, also owns Andretti Global in North America.
