Vriksha Mithra, a registered voluntary social organisation, devoted to environment protection and community development, organised a sapling plantation programme at the TGSRTC zonal workshop complex in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Vriksha Mithra founder president and former Executive Director (Engineering) of the erstwhile APSRTC, M. V. Nagavender Rao, exhorted all citizens to actively participate in environment friendly activities to combat climate change.

He emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect the environment for a greener future.

He said, “We have already done a lot of damage to nature in our pursuit of economic development. Creation of wealth at the cost of environment is suicidal act with perilous consequences. Diminishing tree population in our surroundings and destruction of forests ringing danger bells.”

“Vriksha Mithra wants to play the role of a catalyst in making individuals and institutions implement all activities which are environment savvy,” Mr Rao said, highlighting the collective responsibility of everyone to contribute towards climate action to protect the environment.

TGSRTC Executive Director, Karimnagar Zone, P Solomon, and others spoke.
