NEW DELHI: Citing a "confidential RCMP report", a Canadian portal has claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate was working on behalf of Indian govt - a charge the earlier Trudeau administration repeatedly levelled without evidence. The article, which raised eyebrows, refers to an undated internal report by Canada's Royal Canadian Mounted Police and quotes only two groups representing Canadian Sikhs while referencing PM Mark Carney's planned India visit later this year. Its publication coincided with the high-level trade mission of British Columbia Premier David Eby, who arrived in India Jan 12.While Bishnoi remains behind bars, his affiliates have been linked to crimes in India, US and Canada.
In Canada, multiple local gangs operate across BC, Ontario & Alberta.Under Trudeau, Canada courted Khalistani groups while violent crime surged, with data in 2025 reporting a 43% rise in murders and 108% jump in gang-related homicides since 2015. Ties nosedived after 2023 killing of terrorist Hardeep Nijjar, with Trudeau alleging Indian involvement but later conceding his claims were based on "intelligence" rather than "concrete evidence".
