Bhubaneswar: The 67th, 68th and 69th All Breeds All-India Level Championship Dog Show began on Friday at the Odisha Veterinary College campus in OUAT.The three-day event, organised by Orissa Kennel Club (OKC), will feature over 300 dogs across 30 breeds, with participation from leading breeders, handlers and internationally acclaimed judges.
Highlights included the German Shepherd specialty show, obedience trials and the Dr S K Ray Memorial All Breeds Show.For the first time, the shows were live-streamed internationally, and an adopted street dog competed in the obedience trials, marking a milestone in inclusivity. To ensure safety, OKC partnered with AIIMS Bhubaneswar, with doctors and NSS volunteers providing medical support and conducting rabies awareness campaigns.Founded in 1982, OKC is the state’s only Kennel Club of India-affiliated championship organiser. The club plans initiatives such as a dog park, electric crematorium, microchipping and K-9 citizen programmes to promote responsible ownership.
