The Carmel Catholic Association (CCA), Mysuru, organised its 33rd annual Carol Singing Competition at the Teresian College auditorium here on Sunday.

The day-long event, which was organised to foster the spirit of Christmas through music and harmony, featured competitions in 12 categories, with participation ranging from pre-primary students to college teams and religious congregations. Several teams presented carols in English, Kannada, and other regional languages.

Winners in various categories received trophies and cash prizes, while the institution securing the highest cumulative points was awarded the Champions Trophy. Each participating choir comprised 5 to 50 members, performing carols conveying messages of peace, joy, and unity, according to CCA.

The association has expressed optimism that the event would bring the community together in celebration of the Christmas spirit through music, joy, and togetherness.

Rev. Dr. Thomas Antony Vazhapilly, Bishop Emeritus of the Mysore Diocese, inaugurated the competition. Rev. Fr. Augustine Payampalli CMI, provincial of St. Paul’s Province, Mysore, and patron of CCA, was the guest of honour. Prof. Joseph Mathew, President of CCA presided over the function. Other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
