The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that more than 25 lakh candidates have completed the online registration for the CTET February 2026 exam. The registration process was open for 22 days, from November 27 to December 18, 2025.
The exam will be conducted on February 8, 2026.Compared to the last two CTET exams, the number of registrations has increased. In CTET July 2024, a total of 20,25,554 candidates registered. In CTET December 2024, 16,72,748 candidates registered. During the last three days of registration for the February 2026 exam, there was a surge in applications. On December 16, 1,93,182 candidates registered. On December 17, the number rose to 3,53,218, and on December 18, 4,14,981 candidates completed their applications.
CTET 2026 exam pattern
The CTET exam is held for candidates who want to teach in schools across India. There are two papers:
- Paper I is for candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5.
- Paper II is for candidates who want to teach classes 6 to 8.
Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is no negative marking. The duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes for each paper. Candidates can choose to appear for either Paper I or Paper II, or both, depending on the classes they want to teach.

Now that the registration is complete, candidates should focus on the next steps to stay ready for the exam:Download the admit card: CBSE will release the CTET February 2026 admit cards a few weeks before the exam.
