Celebrations erupted across Karnataka after Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended their 18-year wait for an IPL title with a thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

Virat Kohli was visibly emotional as RCB neared their maiden IPL title, breaking down in tears when Josh Hazlewood delivered the final ball of the match, which Shashank Singh sent over the ropes for a six.

Videos from Shivamogga, Hassan, Kalaburagi, Chitradurga, and other districts captured RCB fans bursting firecrackers and chanting slogans to celebrate their team’s triumph in IPL 2025.

The slogan has been RCB’s battle cry for years, but with the team finally clinching their maiden IPL title, fans are now chanting it louder than ever.

Taking to X, a user wrote: “18 years. 3 finals. Countless heartbreaks. But tonight, RCB finally breaks the curse. Ee Sala Cup Namde no longer a dream, it’s reality."

At the heart of the celebrations was Virat Kohli — the enduring symbol of RCB. Emotional fans rallied behind the former captain, whose unwavering commitment to the franchise made the triumph feel deeply personal to many.

In the lead-up to the final, supporters held hawans and digital snans, visited temples nationwide to offer prayers, and even adorned their cars with nimbu-mirchi to shield the team from the evil eye.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, earned widespread admiration for their spirited run in this season’s IPL.
