CET conducts start-up ideation workshop

The College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (CET) conducted a global start-up ideation training workshop in partnership with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, USA, on Sunday.

Organised under the aegis of CET Alumni Association, Chennai chapter, through its entrepreneurship platform IgniTES, the workshop is aimed at bringing international start-up development frameworks and innovation methodologies to the State.

The workshop, launchU ideation programme, which focused on problem solving, market validation and structured venture development, was led by CIE executive director Jay Jayamohan, a social entrepreneur and an alumnus of CET’s 1986 batch. He has co-founded multiple companies including RollStream, JobNavs and Synteras, and has raised over US $20 million in venture capital, an official release stated.

“CIE is excited to partner with CET to bring launchU to the region, which is proven to be one of the most effective tools for nurturing innovation,” Mr. Jayamohan said. He added that the ideation programme uses the top frameworks and best practices to help young founders learn how to arrive at a clear value proposition and target market to build sustainable and growing businesses.

The launchU programme has been designed by CIE to help students develop core skills in innovation, entrepreneurship and design thinking. Through hands-on sessions and mentoring, the participants explored innovation management techniques and entrepreneurial problem-solving frameworks.

CET principal Suresh K. said more programmes tailored to specific student groups have been planned in collaboration with CIE.
