Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Mustabu’, a programme aimed at promoting self-hygiene among school-going students, at the Social Welfare Girls Residential School at Tallapalem of Kasimkota mandal in Anakapalli district on December 20, 2025 (Saturday).
After launching the programme, Mr. Naidu had a friendly interaction with the students and spoke to them about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene. He advised the students to follow basic habits such as washing face regularly, keeping nails clean, wearing neat uniform and shoes, combing hair properly, and dressing in a proper manner.
“These habits will help improve your hygiene and attentiveness, and concentrate better on your studies. These habits also help develop discipline, build confidence, encourage creativity, and support overall self-development,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Naidu said that ‘Mustabu’ was first conceptualised and implemented by the Collector of Parvathipuram-Manyam district. “Impressed by the concept, I decided to implement the programme across the State,” he added.
Mr. Naidu also encouraged the students to set clear goals in life, dream big, work hard, and strive to reach greater heights. He said children were a valuable asset of the State, and noted that many students come from families where parents work as daily wagers and make great sacrifices to educate their children.
He urged the students to recognise their parents’ efforts, study well, secure good jobs, and help their families come out of poverty. He further said that students should become part of the knowledge economy and excel in their lives.
The Chief Minister also informed the students that the government was providing financial assistance under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme and supplying textbooks, uniforms, and meals free of cost to help them achieve better academic results.
Mr. Naidu also announced that health check-ups would soon be conducted for nearly 75 lakh students across the State. He appreciated IT and Education Minister N. Lokesh and other Ministers for their efforts in shaping the future of the students and working towards their overall development.
R. Gunasreevalli, a second-year MPC student from B.R. Ambedkar Gurukulam, Tallapalem, interacted with the Chief Minister during the programme. Mr. Naidu personally spoke with class monitors and enquired about how they were checking the neatness of other students as part of the ‘Mustabu’ initiative.
