Muhammad Nisham, convict in the high-profile Chandrabose murder case, has been released on parole for the first time.

Nisham, who is serving his sentence at the Viyyur Central Jail, was granted a 15-day parole to settle a business-related property dispute. He had approached the Kerala High Court requesting parole for this purpose. The court then directed the State government to decide the conditions for granting the parole.

The parole has been granted on strict conditions- Nisham is not allowed to enter the Peramangalam police station limits, where the crime took place, he must report daily to the Viyyur police station, and is required to reside within its jurisdiction during the parole period. The parole was granted after he accepted these conditions.

The incident

The crime occurred on January 29, 2015. Nisham brutally attacked Chandrabose, a security guard at Sobha City in Thrissur, allegedly due to a delay in opening the gate. Nisham reportedly rammed his vehicle into the security cabin, chased Chandrabose with his car, and hit him with the vehicle. Later, he dragged the injured Chandrabose into his vehicle and took him near his flat. The police took the severely injured Chandrabose to the hospital, where he died on February 16.

On January 21, 2016, the Thrissur Additional Sessions Court found Nisham guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment plus an additional 24 years in prison and a fine of ₹71.30 lakh.
