Change needed in Kerala politics for Kerala Police to change: Shobha Surendran

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State general secretary Shobha Surendran said that the Kerala politics needed a change if the Kerala Police were to change.

She was inaugurating a protest march led by the BJP Thrissur city district committee on Monday to the Assistant Commissioner’s office, demanding an end to police brutality and apathy under the Pinarayi Vijayan government, and calling for the transformation of the Kerala Police into a modern, people-friendly force for a developed Kerala.

Recent reports of police brutality were proof of how criminalised the force had become, she pointed out. “As a result, public trust in the police—like in the education and health sectors—has eroded,” she said.

Law and order should improve, and the police should ensure equal protection for all, she said.
