Chided by mother, newly-wed woman ends life

An 18-year-old newly-wed woman from Kukatpally died by suicide at her residence on Tuesday, reportedly after being reprimanded by her mother for spending time on her mobile phone.

The deceased, identified as Ramya, got married a few months ago and was staying at her parental home along with her husband.

According to police,  after noticing her daughter spending more time on the mobile phone, Ramya’s mother allegedly chided her. Upset over the rebuke, Ramya is said to have taken the extreme step.

Based on a complaint lodged by the family, Kukatpally police have registered a case of suicide and initiated an investigation.
