Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on his first visit to India since the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, on Tuesday met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today.
The talks between Wang Yi and Ajit Doval focused on restoring border stability and building new momentum in India-China ties. NSA Doval highlighted the importance of these engagements ahead of Prime Minister Modi's upcoming visit to China for the SCO Summit. Both sides acknowledged that past setbacks were not in their mutual interest. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar asserted that peace on the border is essential for improving relations. China also committed to addressing India's concerns regarding fertilisers, rare earths, and tunnel boring machines.
