CM Punk Weighs In On Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev: 'It'll Look Like...'

WWE Superstar CM Punk recently weighed in on the much-anticipated middleweight clash between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev that is set to take place on August 16 at the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois, United States.

The UFC returns to the Windy City after a six-year absence, and therefore it is natural of the Chicago-born Punk to have a vested interest in the event. Punk himself has fought for the promotion on two occasions. However, to call his performances lacklustre would be an understatement, as he got utterly dominated and battered by his opponents.

Regardless, his celebrity status as one of the biggest names to cross-over, alongside Brock Lesnar, who enjoyed much greater success inside the octagon, is undisputed.

He has also stated that he might even make an appearance at the pay-per-view. “I’m very excited, I’m probably ultimately going to be very disappointed too because I don’t know if I can go to the show, I’ve got to look at my calendar," Punk told Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on the recent episode of their collaborative show, Good Guy/Bad Guy.

Dissecting the fight, he remarked, “That’s going to be a wild main event, man. That’s going to be (wild). It’s so hard to bet against Chimaev, you know, especially after what he did to (Robert) Whittaker but I think Dricus is really really smart, probably smarter than a lot of people give him credit for.

“He knows what his game plan is going to be, he knows Chimaev is gonna come and try to dive on an ankle right out of the gate so I’m sure he’s doing his preparation, that’s what’s going to make this so fascinating.

“I don’t know if I see this making five rounds and if it does, we’re probably gonna have two very tired fighters and it’ll look like Derrick Lewis vs (Francis) Ngannou," Punk said.

CM Punk With Belal Muhammed?

Punk, continuing on the podcast stated that he might make his appearance, sharing the spotlight with the former UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammed.

“Brother, I’m so busy, like it’s absolutely insane. I know we’re in Europe for a big chunk of August but I don’t think it’s until the last week of August so I’ve got to double check. Hopefully I’ll be there, I’m gonna sit next to my bud Belal," Punk added.
