Highlighting the importance of creating safe and spacious environments for cattle, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy suggested that cow shelters be initially set up within the premises of the Veterinary and Agricultural Universities, their affiliated colleges, and select temples across the State.
At a high-level review meeting focused on the development and management of cow shelters across Telangana, he directed the formation of a dedicated committee to oversee the establishment of cow shelters. He wanted the committee to formulate an actionable plan within a stipulated timeframe and asked the officials to identify suitable lands for this purpose.
In line with this vision, the Chief Minister suggested that each cow shelter be established on a sprawling 50-acre land parcel to provide ample space for grazing and free roaming, thereby avoiding congestion and ensuring the well-being of the animals.
He emphasised the importance of involving charitable organisations in the protection and maintenance of these shelters and called for full budget estimates to be included in the proposed plans. A blueprint with state-of-the-art facilities for shelter construction, cattle care and overall management was suggested.
The Chief Minister also reviewed architectural designs for upcoming cow shelters planned in MK Palli, located in the Moinabad mandal of Rangareddy district. He suggested certain modifications and asked the officials to finalise the designs within four to five days.
The review meeting was attended by CM, Principal Secretaries V. Seshadri and Srinivasa Raju, Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Director of Animal Husbandry Department B. Gopi, Rangareddy District Collector Narayana Reddy among others.
