Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (October 18, 2025) raised several questions to the BJP-led Union government, a day after State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu alleged in the Assembly that Centre has consistently shown “a political bias” against Tamil Nadu by withholding funds meant for education and social welfare projects and by not sanctioning infrastructure projects to the State.

Replying to discussions on the first supplementary demands for grants in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Thennarasu, while pointing out various issues, had asked whether the Centre’s actions were “consistent with the spirit of cooperative federalism.”

In a post on X on Saturday, Mr. Stalin said that not only Mr. Thennarasu, but people across the country also have questions in their hearts. “I am raising some of those questions,” he said.

“After corrupt politicians join the BJP alliance, how does the washing machine make them clean,” Mr. Stalin asked. “Why are the major schemes and laws of the nation named only in Hindi and Sanskrit — what kind of arrogance is this?”

“Why are Union Ministers restricting our children by preaching unscientific superstitions,” the Chief Minister asked. “In Opposition-ruled States, what do you hope to achieve by using Governors to create confusion,” he asked further.

“For the BJP’s election victory, why do you back the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which amounts to taking away people’s votes and results in vote theft,” Mr. Stalin asked.

“Why are you not recognising the archaeological findings from Keeladi, that establish the antiquity of iron in Tamil culture. Why is there no willingness even to approve a scientifically verified report from Tamil Nadu on the antiquity of iron? Why are you putting hurdles to block the Keeladi report,” he questioned.

“Will there be answers to all these questions? Or, as usual, will you start spreading false propaganda through WhatsApp University,” Mr. Stalin further asked.
