Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate four newly constructed buildings under the modernisation programme of the Kannur City Police on Wednesday (March 4).
The main event will be held at the Kannur City District Police Headquarters, where Minister for Registration, Museums and Archaeology Ramachandran Kadannappally will preside. Speaker A. N. Shamseer will attend as the chief guest. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Kannur Range, Yathish Chandra G.H., will deliver the welcome address.
The projects include a four-storey District Police Chief’s office complex in Kannur, with a total built-up area of 34,564 sq ft, constructed at a cost of ₹12.625 crore, six lower subordinate quarters at Talap, with a built-up area of 1,859 sq ft, constructed at a cost of ₹1.89 crore; a Central Custodial Facilitation Centre built above the Assistant Commissioner of Police office in Koothuparamba, covering 1,626 sq ft at a cost of ₹51 lakh; and a newly constructed training centre above the Kannur Range DIG office.
Kannur Municipal Corporation Mayor P. Indira, Kannur MP K. Sudhakaran, Vadakara MP Shafi Parambil, and Rajya Sabha members V. Sivadasan and P. Santosh Kumar will attend as special guests. MLAs M.V. Govindan, K.P. Mohanan, K.K. Shailaja, Sunny Joseph, K.V. Sumesh and M.V. Vijayan, along with other public representatives and officials, will also be present.
