The Kerala High Court has dismissed a plea by BJP leader Shaun George seeking access to documents submitted by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) on the allegations about transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd. (CMRL) and Exalogic Solutions.
Exalogic is a firm that was owned by T. Veena, daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court had passed an order directing that the SFIO’s probe report and other documents be handed over to him. The CMRL challenged this order before the High Court, contending that the sessions court passed the order without hearing the company.
The CMRL’s contention was that the SFIO probe was under way and that Mr. George was no way connected with the probe. It further claimed that he was attempting to take credit for the probe.
Dismissing Mr. George’s plea, a Bench of Justice V.G. Arun directed the sessions court to pass an order after hearing both Mr. George and the CMRL.
