Coimbatore district collectorate receives one more hoax bomb threat

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore district collectorate received a bomb threat email on Thursday, marking the third such a threat this week and the 15th in recent months. After a thorough investigation, it was declared a hoax.The district collectorate received the email at 11.07am. The sender, named Saina Ramesh, stated, "4 RDX IEDs placed on Coimbatore collectorate premises. Evacuate innocent persons by 2pm." The district administration alerted the city police, who dispatched the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the K9 dog squad to the location. After searching for an hour, the police declared it a hoax bomb threat.Miscreants have been sending hoax bomb threat emails to the district collectorate, hospitals and educational institutions in the city using a VPN, which makes it difficult for the police to trace them. This week alone, the district collectorate received three such emails. The first bomb threat email was on Monday, and the other two were on Wednesday and Thursday.
