Cold wave conditions are likely to persist across parts of central and western India through Thursday, even as minimum temperatures over most of northwest and central India remain largely unchanged, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The IMD said no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over the plains of northwest and central India for the next two days. The temperature is likely to rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius between December 13 and 15 as an approaching western disturbance and lower-level easterlies begin to influence the region.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, minimum temperatures are expected to dip by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
Cold wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, north interior Karnataka and north interior Odisha through December 13. Similar conditions are expected over west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on December 11 and 12.
In Maharashtra, minimum temperatures are forecast to fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next three days before gradually rising again.
A feeble western disturbance is set to influence the western Himalayan region beginning Friday. Light rain or snowfall is likely at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad from December 13 to 16, and in Himachal Pradesh on December 14.
No rainfall is expected over the plains of the country for the next week.

Dense fog is unlikely over northwest India until December 12, with lower-level easterlies expected only from Friday. However, dense fog during morning hours is very likely in isolated pockets of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura through December 15.
