Conduct study on drug addiction among students, youth, Kerala HC tells govt.

The Kerala High Court has directed the State government to conduct a study on drug addiction among students and youth in the State. The study could consider aspects such as the number of cases registered so far, the age group of the persons found using drugs, the mode of using drugs and the regions where drug abuse is more prevalent. These details will be of considerable help in preventing drug abuse, the court said and posted the case filed by Sumi Joseph of Ernakulam for hearing to June 12. In her petition, she sought steps to wean students and youth away from the influence of drugs.
