The 78th Annual State Radiology Conference, with special focus on clinical excellence and well-being, concluded at Christian Medical College (CMC) campus in Vellore on Saturday.

According to a press release, the three-day conference was organised by the Vellore subchapter of the Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (TNPY IRIA). The 2025 theme of the conference was clinical radiology and work-life balance, focusing on the critical role of radiologists in diagnosis and patient care, while also addressing the physical and mental health of the practitioners.

Solomon Sathish Kumar, chief guest and principal, CMC Vellore, commended the prolific activity of the IRIA and stressed the importance of radiologists in patient care, stating that his words were intended to instill a desire to further the association’s work.

The conference featured 84 scientific sessions, including workshops and case-based discussions, alongside sessions on stress management, burnout, and financial planning. Post graduates and consultants also presented their papers related to the theme. Around 200 posters and 165 papers were submitted, and 16 were selected for the final presentation, with top awards given to postgraduates and consultants.

The event also included sports and cultural activities such as table tennis, basketball, carrom, volleyball, music and photography competitions. On the occasion, Pankaj Sharma, secretary general, National IRIA; Umesh Krishnamurthy, ex-president, National IRIA; T. Madan Mohan, secretary general, TNPY IRIA; and Anitha Jasper, organising secretary, were present, the release said.
