Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira alleges fresh land demarcation ordered under pressure from Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

JALANDHAR: Amid the bitter political battle between Bholath Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira and the AAP government during the ongoing Assembly session, in which two resolutions were passed against him, Khaira has alleged that, under pressure from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Kapurthala deputy commissioner ordered a fresh demarcation of his land in village Ramgarh at 9am on Saturday “without any notice to the panchayat or the farmers concerned”.“The rules say demarcation cannot be conducted when there is a standing crop, such as wheat in the fields, and it cannot be carried out on a holiday either,” he said in a statement issued on Saturday morning.“Basically, they want to create or show some sort of illegal possession against me so that the CM can defame me in the Vidhan Sabha on March 16, the last day,” he alleged.Khaira also shared the demarcation order issued by the Bholath tehsildar, which mentions “oral orders” by the deputy commissioner in this regard.Earlier, the ruling party passed a resolution in the Assembly against Khaira, followed by another resolution to refer a breach of privilege case against him to the House privileges committee.
