Congress will go it alone in Tripura, form govt for people’s welfare: MLA Sudip

Agartala: Congress MLA and CWC member Sudip Roy Barman on Monday claimed that Left parties have no future in Tripura and said Congress will go it alone in the state and form a govt for the welfare of the people.His statement came as a surprise amid bonhomie of Congress with CPM since last two years to prevent BJP’s rise. Roy Barman said the public now wants to see Congress in power while addressing a joining programme at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district, where 137 families joined Congress.“I want to thank all of you for joining Congress, leaving CPM. You have realised that supporting CPM means helping BJP. In this state, CPM has no future.

People have not forgotten the long tenure of 25 years of rule in Tripura. People want something new. We have seen 25 years of CPM and BJP govt as well, and now people want to see a Congress govt. Congress is the only party that has been fighting for the people,” said Roy Barman.He said among the 137 families, 102 are from CPM who have left the party and joined Congress, and 35 families have also affiliated with the party.“People want to hand over the govt to Congress. Congress has been fighting against the fascist BJP.

Only Congress can counter BJP. In every village, you will find Congress in rural areas. BJP is using the Election Commission and by stealing votes they are in power. Our leader Rahul Gandhi has shown everything with proof. Congress is working for the poor, minorities, SC, OBC, and ST people and to protect their rights,” the Congress leader said.Roy Barman also criticised the govt for failing to curb the drug menace and alleged that the situation is grim. He pointed out that there are no jobs, no employment generation and over 51,000 vacant posts are lying vacant.“Having a double-engine govt, they are not opening any factories.... Law and order have totally collapsed, gang rape, murder, etc. are on the rise,” he added.
