Conor McGregor, the former UFC champion from Ireland, gave a strong speech on September 4, 2025, in Dublin, right outside the Government Buildings. He told fans that people in charge are failing and he wants to make things better.
He asked his fans to talk to local county councillors so they can help him get on the presidential ballot. He said things like, “If you want to see my name on the ballot for the presidency, I urge you to contact your local county councillors today and ask them to nominate me.”
Conor McGregor asks Irish fans to help him get on the presidential ballot
Conor McGregor said that the government is letting people down. He talked about why he believes things are getting worse. He said there are more homeless children, people feel unsafe, and tourism is going down. He called the situation “an incompetent failure of future generations.”
He described himself as a “master of martial combat” and “solution‑driven man.” He promised not just to talk, but to act. He told people: “Our councillors are the backbone of our communities. They work harder … than those in the Oireachtas, who continue to fail this country time and again.” Even though he said he already had support from councils, TDs, and senators, there is no official record yet showing that any of them have nominated him. Also Read: Former Tennis Star Anna Kournikova Pregnant At 44 Expecting Fourth Child With Enrique Iglesias After Health Scare
Conor McGregor launches petition to change Ireland’s presidential election rules
Before his speech, Conor McGregor began an online petition on August 4, 2025. He seeks to change the rule that demands either 20 members of the Oireachtas or four local authorities nominate someone so he can run for president. He said the rule was unfair and stops regular people from running. He wants the law changed so that citizens can decide who gets on the ballot. But many people say this is hard to do before the November 2025 election.Right now, Conor still faces a big challenge to get nominated. And he also has legal issues. A court ruled he assaulted a woman in 2018, and he lost his appeal this year.
