Union Urban Affairs Minister M.L. Khattar on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) said construction of all 10 buildings of the Common Central Secretariat (CCS) would be over by mid-2027.
The process of construction of all buildings would begin by December 31 this year and all 10 buildings of the CCS would be constructed in the next 22 months, Mr. Khattar said at a press conference here, adding that several ministries housed in Shastri Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan, Nirman Bhavan and Udyog Bhavan in the national capital would soon shift to new locations on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Minto Road, and Netaji Palace temporarily for two years
An official said a tender for the demolition of the four bhavans would be floated within two months, and construction of the remaining buildings would commence by December.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first building of the CCS, named Kartavya Bhavan -03, on Wednesday (August 6, 2025). The Prime Minister is later scheduled to address a public rally on Kartavya Path.
The 10 CCS buildings are part of the government’s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment plan. Two under-construction buildings, 1 and 2, are scheduled to be completed by next month, while CCS 10 will be finished by April next year.
CCS buildings 6 and 7 will be constructed by October 2026.
The entire Central Vista will be connected to a new metro line from Indraprastha Metro Station. The line will pass through the CCS buildings, North Block and South Block and will include stoppages for the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court, said Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Katikithala Srinivas.
