Nebraska tight end Luke Lindenmeyer transformed an ordinary football evening into a moment of lasting memory. During the Cornhuskers’ overwhelming 68–0 win over Akron, Lindenmeyer not only scored his first collegiate touchdown but also proposed to his girlfriend, Kailyn Storovich.
The night became a seamless mix of athletic achievement and deeply personal triumph, leaving fans and teammates both inspired and emotional.
First career touchdown marks significant personal milestone
For Lindenmeyer, the Akron game marked a breakthrough. The La Vista native, who started as a walk-on, secured his first touchdown with a 10-yard reception from quarterback Dylan Raiola. He finished with three catches for 44 yards, showcasing steady growth and the payoff of tireless preparation.
“Scoring my first touchdown was incredible, but sharing this night with Kailyn made it unforgettable,” Lindenmeyer later reflected.
His performance highlighted not only athletic skill but the culmination of years of dedication.
Heartfelt proposal happens right on the field
The evening’s most remarkable moment came after the final whistle. Lindenmeyer had secretly coordinated with coach Matt Rhule and team staff to propose to Kailyn, a member of the Nebraska Scarlets Dance Team.
Surrounded by teammates and family, he knelt on the field and asked her to marry him, with the stadium lights turning the moment magical. “I wanted this to be perfect,” he shared. Kailyn’s joyful “yes” echoed across the field, blending celebration with genuine emotion.
Love and faith guiding his journey forward
Lindenmeyer’s journey to this night is a story of persistence and faith. From his early days as the 10th-string tight end to becoming a key contributor, he credits hard work and support from family and community.
He and Kailyn first met at church, and their shared values have anchored their relationship. Reflecting on the proposal, Lindenmeyer said, “This moment isn’t just about me or football—it’s about love, faith, and the people who’ve lifted us along the way.
