The Khanapur police have arrested thirteen persons who were involved in the manufacture of country-made guns and explosives.
Addressing presspersons in Belagavi on Saturday, Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan said that nine country-made guns and raw materials had been confiscated from the accused at Katagali village in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district.
The accused include manufacturers of country-made guns, the buyers and the suppliers of raw materials.
The arrest was made after conducting raid on the residence of Shrikanth Sutar of Katagali village, who was involved in the manufacture of country-made guns. Based on the information provided by him, the police subsequently arrested the buyers, suppliers of raw materials and others who helped him to sell the illegal arms. The accused are residents of various places in Belagavi and Uttara Kananda districts.
All of them have been remanded in judicial custody.
