Jana Sena Party Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas on Saturday announced that the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Uppada will be open for academic activity by August, after inspecting the institution’s ongoing construction activity. The works of the administrative building, academic blocks, hostel and laboratory facilities in the progress.
The Ministry of Tourism has released ₹12 crore for the construction of the SIHM campus on a five-acre land in Uppada to offer course in hotel management to address the unemployment of the youth in Andhra Pradesh. The construction activity has been reportedly delayed due to lack of funds from the Centre during 2019-2024.
“At least 95% of construction activity has been completed. However, the Ministry of Tourism has been urged to grant ₹2 crore for the road facility on the SIHM campus,” Mr. Srinivas stated in a release.
