Couple killed in a road accident in Chittoor district

Tirupati: A middle-aged couple were killed in a road accident near Punganur in Chittoor district on Sunday. According to the police, the deceased were identified as Ameer (48) and Salma (40).Their 19-year-old son Mustakhir, who sustained severe injuries in the accident, has been admitted to the govt hospital at Punganur.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ameer was heading towards Eedigapalli from Madanapalle along with his wife and son on a bike.

A speeding SUV rammed into their bike at high speed near Eedigapalli, leaving both Ameer and Salma dead on the spot.Locals with the help of police rushed Mustakhir to the govt hospital at Punganur for treatment. Punganur police registered a case and are investigating. Police informed Ameer’s relatives at Madanapalle about the incident and will handover the couple’s bodies after the completion of postmortem formalities.
