Leaders of CPI(M) on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) demanded that the government take stern action against those accused of allegedly torturing residents of Thotlavallur village over suspicion of theft at the Uppuluru cockfight arena.

Condemning the attack on the dalits and other villagers, CPI(M) State secretary V. Srinivas Rao, State secretariat member B. Tulasidas, corporator B. Sathibabu and others organised a rally in Vijayawada on Tuesday.

According to reports, organisers of cockfights, gambling, ‘gundata,’ and ‘numberlata’ allegedly beat 11 labourers who had worked at the Uppuluru arena a couple of days ago, after stripping them and tying their hands, accusing them of theft.

Mr. Srinivas Rao urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan to take stern action against the accused.
