The Communist Party of India’s (CPI) State executive member P. Kameswara Rao on Saturday (January 17, 2026) said the CPI would play a vital role in Andhra Pradesh politics very soon as it continued to have a strong network in the nook and cranny of the State. He said the CPI national body which would hold its centenary celebrations’ valedictory in Khammam on January 18, 2026 will give a clear road map for the strengthening of the party from grass root level in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh.

As many as 1,000 delegates from North Andhra region led by Mr. Rao left for Khammam on Saturday (January 16, 2026). Speaking to media on the occasion in Vizianagaram, he said the CPI won 19 Assembly seats in 1994 general elections in United Andhra Pradesh but gradually faced many challenges later owing to unexpected changes in Andhra Pradesh politics.

“Corporate sector is silently dominating politics in the country. They are relentlessly trying to suppress Left ideology with the support of a few political parties. But people understood that their lives turned miserable in the last 30 years. Farmers, labourers, agriculture labourers, lower and lower middle class sections are victims with the policies of the present governments. They are keen to support the CPI in near future,” said Mr. Rao.

He said the party got a significant number of votes in 14 Assembly and two Parliament seats where it had contested in the 2024 general elections in Andhra Pradesh. “We will prove our strength in the next Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC), Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and municipal elections. The party’s State body will select the right candidates for the local body elections,” he added.
