The vandalism of the RG Kar took place on August 14, 2024
Kolkata Police has filed a chargesheet against several leaders of the Left Front in the vandalism case of RG Kar Hospital on the night of August 14, 2024. The chargesheet filed by Kolkata Police includes the names of 54 people, including DYFI leader Minakshi Mukherjee.
The incident occurred just five days after the brutal rape and murder of a PG Trainee student inside the hospital on August 9, which left the entire nation in shock and led to protests being carried out not only across India but also abroad. The left-front leaders have been accused of instigating the agitated mob.

During the investigation, hundreds of people were examined by Kolkata police. Lots of CCTV footage was collected, CDR (Call details recorded) of suspects were collected, the tower dumping process was done and several audio clips were found by the special investigation team.
In the probe, several left front leaders, including Minakshi Mukherjee, were summoned and questioned by Kolkata police. According to sources, during the investigation, it was revealed that a few people, including left-front leaders, created the conspiracy while sitting in the house of another CPI(M) leader in Kolkata.
They conspired and instigated the agitated mob which was already on the street to carry out protests against the brutal rape and murder case that had happened on 9th August.
The chargesheet has been filed before the Sealdah court and cognisance has been taken by the magistrate. Based on the chargesheet, CPIM central committee member Minakshi Mukherjee and other accused were summoned by the court on Monday.
CPIM leader Minakshi Mukherjee and other accused have appeared and surrendered before the court and have been granted bail in the case.
