Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy stressed the need for students and teachers to create awareness on the hazards of using plastic in the society.
Participating in the Swarna Andhra-Swachh Andhra programme on Saturday at the MPDO office in Banganapalle, the Minister said the aim of the programme was to protect nature, and to create awareness on the ill-effects of plastic usage. Mr. Janardhan Reddy said it was the responsibility of every individual to keep their environments clean.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy also stressed on the importance of waste recycling. He said they had been striving for a plastic-free Banganapalle for nearly a year, but plastic was still being used by several people in the town. “Plastic can be completely avoided from our lives only if people get to know about its hazards,” he said. Mr. Janardhan Reddy said a healthy society can be built only if the people keep their environtments clean.
Later, the Minister inspected the quality of food items at a food stall set up at the venue. He found that the saplings that were planted earlier had dried and asked the staff to take proper care of them.
