Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh appealed to people to celebrate Bakrid peacefully and maintain communal harmony during the festival celebrations.
Addressing a peace committee meeting on Monday (May 25) organised at the auditorium of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate with religious leaders and community representatives, the Commissioner urged citizens to cooperate with the police to ensure peaceful celebrations and prevent any untoward incidents.
He said surveillance had been intensified on anti-social elements attempting to disturb law and order and warned that strict action would be taken against those trying to create unrest. Special arrangements, including check-posts across the city, have also been made for the festival over the past 45 days, he added.
Commissioner Ramesh advised people to remain alert against fake news, old videos and misleading social media posts, and urged citizens to contact Dial 100 in case of emergencies.
Quthubullapur DCP N. Koti Reddy, Serilingampally DCP C.H. Srinivas and Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj also appealed to people to celebrate the festival peacefully and cooperate with police in maintaining law and order.
Senior police officials, Station House Officers, and Hindu and Muslim religious leaders attended the meeting.
