As the deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclonic Storm Montha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert — indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall — in three Telangana districts and a yellow alert — indicating heavy rainfall in 15 districts — for Tuesday (October 28, 2025). According to the IMD, Cyclone Montha is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, during the evening or night of October 28 as a severe cyclonic storm.

According to IMDs latest bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhongir, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Nagarkunrool districts.

Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Yadadri Bongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Nagarkurnool districts.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a generally cloudy sky. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in the city. Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning and night hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 23 respectively,” the bulletin said.
