Cyclone Montha train cancellations: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has cancelled operations of over 40 trains as a precautionary measure ahead of Cyclone Montha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 28.

The weather system is expected to cross the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, around Kakinada, during the evening or night of October 28 as a severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speeds of up to 110 kmph, the IMD added.

Cyclone Montha impact on train operations

In a statement, the ECoR said: “In view of Cyclone “MONTHA”, East Coast Railway has cancelled several trains for passenger safety. Please check train status before travel.”
