Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has spoken out after his former girlfriend, Gracelyn Trimble, accused him of physical abuse. On Tuesday night, November 9, 2021, Trimble, a U.S.

Army sergeant, filed a lawsuit in Minnesota claiming that Cook assaulted her during an altercation at his home in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Trimble shared photos on social media showing marks and bruises on her face, saying they were from that incident. Cook, through his lawyer, strongly denied the claims and said he was the victim.

Gracelyn Trimble accuses Dalvin Cook of violent incident

According to court papers filed on Tuesday, Gracelyn Trimble said she went to Dalvin Cook’s home in November 2020 to end their relationship and collect her things.

She claimed that Cook reacted with anger and gave her a concussion during a fight that left scars on her face.

Trimble said she used mace to defend herself and locked herself in a bedroom before calling a friend for help. In her lawsuit, she also said Cook hit her with a broomstick.Trimble later shared photos online to show the injuries. She alleged that the running back would not allow her to leave freely. Her lawyer said the case shows a “pattern of abuse” that harmed Trimble both physically and emotionally.

Dalvin Cook says he was the one assaulted

Cook’s lawyer, David Valentini, released a statement on Tuesday evening that told a very different story. Valentini said that Gracelyn Trimble broke into Cook’s house using a garage door opener she had kept. He claimed Trimble sprayed mace in Cook’s eyes and hit him before things escalated. Valentini added that Cook was the true victim and that evidence would clear his name.On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, Dalvin Cook spoke with reporters but avoided details of the lawsuit. “I just want everybody to know I’m the victim in this situation, and the truth will come out,” Cook said, as reported by ESPN. He also told Pro Football Talk that he did not like his private life being made public but would handle things “day by day.”Despite the ongoing case, Dalvin Cook said he expected to play in the Vikings’ Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. No charges have been filed against either Cook or Trimble, and police were not called at the time of the alleged incident.
