Donald Trump’s biggest birthday celebration yet unfolded Saturday night as the president arrived at UFC Freedom 250 alongside UFC president Dana White for an unprecedented mixed martial arts event on the South Lawn of the White House. The event, staged as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, drew thousands of spectators, senior administration officials, business leaders, and UFC stars. Donald Trump, who turned 80 on Saturday, emerged from the White House with White at his side after welcoming supporters from a balcony overlooking the South Lawn.

The pair walked toward a temporary arena dominated by "The Claw," a massive steel structure that towered above the White House grounds and transformed the venue into a one-night fight destination.

More than 4,500 fans were granted access to the grounds, while tens of thousands more watched from designated viewing areas outside the complex. First Lady Melania Trump joined the president shortly after the walkout, while Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and several cabinet members took their seats among the crowd.

The spectacle was briefly threatened by severe weather. Organizers delayed the opening fights for nearly an hour because of lightning concerns around Washington, D.C. Fans sheltered under vehicles and temporary structures before officials gave the all-clear signal.

Once conditions improved, fighter walkouts began from within the White House complex itself. Competitors made their way down the center of the South Lawn toward the Octagon, creating a visual unlike anything previously seen in UFC history.
