Ayodhya is all decked up, not just to celebrate Deepotsav, but the city is also eyeing on setting a world record. Preparations are in full swing to light up the city with over 26 lakh earthen lamps, illuminating every corner. A total of 26,11,101 diyas are set to brighten the banks of Ram Ki Paidi and 56 ghats.

Ayodhya’s Deepotsav- A Symbol Of Devotion

Deepotsav is held every year in Ayodhya under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The event symbolises faith, unity, and devotion. The festival not only honours the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile but also reinforces the city’s identity as a global centre for spirituality and tourism.

Volunteers Gear Up To Create World Record

Thousands of volunteers from various universities and colleges have joined hands to make this year’s Deepotsav a massive event. Videos shared online show people enthusiastically putting up diyas at Ram ki Paidi.

Work began early this morning with volunteers preparing the lamps, adding wicks and oil, and arranging them in intricate patterns along the ghats. The lighting ceremony will take place in the evening, creating a breathtaking view as millions of flames flicker in unison.

Guinness World Record Attempt

To ensure transparency in the record-setting process, Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning explained that a detailed verification system has been put in place. “Each participant’s entry is tracked using QR codes, and every zone is monitored carefully," he said.

The entire area has been divided into multiple zones, each supervised by two stewards responsible for ensuring that lamps are properly lit and arranged. Any unlit or misplaced lamps will be deducted from the total count, according to officials.
