Amid the Trump administration’s imposition of 50 percent tariff on India, the ministry of external affairs on Thursday said the future of a relationship with the United States will be based on “mutual respect and shared interests".

Highlighting that one of these shared interests was the defence agreements between India and the US, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said it is an important pillar of the bilateral partnership.
