In a shocking incident, an auto driver was beaten to death by the enraged relatives of a minor boy he had accidentally hit, even as the collision did not cause any serious injuries to the child.

The driver, identified as Maan Bahadur, struggled to control the vehicle as the boy ran onto the road. Despite no serious injuries to the boy, the enraged relatives pulled him out of the vehicle and thrashed him mercilessly, according to India Today.

“The accused family members of the boy first assaulted my uncle and later brought him home. His condition was bad as his face was badly swollen. It was evident that he was badly beaten by the family members," said Vidhi Gurung, the niece of the victim.

Gurung said the boy’s family falsely claimed that the minor boy was brutally injured and hospitalised, and threatened the victim’s family with a court case, demanding Rs 10,000 for the treatment. The wife hastily arranged the money and gave it to the boy’s family.

Bahadur is survived by four children and his wife. The victim’s family registered a police complaint after the incident. Police initiated an investigation and arrested Gajendra Singh, the father of the boy. The search for the boy’s uncle is currently on.
